Fusion Lamp

The Fusion project explores the use of recycled glass as a material for the local production of products, through the application of the traditional glass forming technique "fusing".

The experimental project resulted in a material library that demonstrates some of the aesthetic and functional possibilities of recycled soda-lime glass and demonstrates the versatility of the material. Normally, soda-lime glass is used for the production of low-quality bottles and containers. These products usually have a very short life cycle, and there is a tendency in the recycling industry to downcycle the material, meaning that much of the valuable material is lost in the process.

The project aims to counteract this practice by demonstrating the potential of recycled bottle glass as a resource-rich material by applying it to a functional product with an extended lifespan. The Fusion project aims to highlight the potential of using recycled and infinitely recyclable material with a new approach in a yet little-explored industry sector.
